Wow Mining Walkthrough

***Warning: This is a WoW Mining Walkthrough, if you want a great guide on leveling please visit the Ultimate WoW Guide

Before starting with mining, you are going to need:

1) Mining Skill. You will get this by going to your local mining trainer.

Here are the mining trainers and their locations:

Alliance Trainers:

Gelman Stonehand: Stormwind, on the western end of Dwarven District (Alliance Trainer)
Kurdram Stonehammer: Darkshore, north Auberdine area. (Alliance Trainer)
Matt Johnson: Duskwood, in the north section of Darkshire. (Alliance Trainer)
Brock Stoneseeker: Loch Modan, Southwest part of Thelsamar. (Alliance Trainer) Geofram Bouldertoe: Deepmountain Mining Guild in Ironforge. (Alliance Trainer)    Yarr Hammerstone: Dun Morogh, eastern edge of Kharanos. (Alliance Trainer)
Dank Drizzlecut: Dun Morogh, north of Gol'bolbar Quarry. (Alliance Trainer)

Horde Trainers:

Makaru: Orgrimmar, center of the valley of honor. (Horde Trainer)

 Brek Stonehoof: Thunder Bluff, Western edge of the center plateau. (Horde Trainer) Brom Killian: Undercity, South of the bridge leading to the War Quarter. (Horde Trainer)

2) A Mining Pick:

It is also useful for you

 to note that the mining pick can also be enchanted, even though it makes no difference other than you get to see a glow when you equip it. It seems pointless to me but some people like this as a cool feature.

3) Optional but recommended - Gloves:

Get the lowest costing gloves you can find and get them enchanted with +5 mining skill, it won't cost more than 2 gold.

For those who asked, the +5 mining will not improve your chances of getting a crystal, but it will DECREASE the odds that you will have a failed attempt.

Engineers Note: If you make yourself a Goblin Mining helmet this will add +5 to your mining skill.

Wow Mining Walkthrough - Copper mining

I advise that you mine about 50 copper then smelt it. There are large quantities of  Copper, so you can use any of the following mining routes or invent your own:

Mining Locations:

* Alterac Mountains
* Ashenvale
* Darkshore
* Desolace
* Dun Morogh
* Durotar
* Duskwood
* Elwynn Forest
* Hillsbrad Foothills
* Loch Modan
* Mulgore
* Redridge Mountains
* Silverpine Forest
* Stonetalon Mountains
* The Barrens
* Thousand Needles, Tirisfal Glades, Westfall, and Wetlands

Horde

- Tauren: Mulgore:

Choose a starting point and follow the cliffs all the way around. Remember to check out the Venture Co mine. You should get around 40-50 copper on this run.

- Orc and Troll:

A simple method is to just complete whole circuits of Durotar. However there is so much copper around that you may find it more exciting to start at Razor Hill and move west towards the Quilboar grounds, hugging the cliff face until you reach the river and then travel up north till you reach Orgrimmar. Then travel east until you see a small farmstead, then head south and go down into the canyon. If you follow the canyon out and head south east, you'll reach razor hill again. By the end of this you will have about 25-30 copper ores.

- Undead:

Starting at the entrance of DeathKnell, travel south and follow the cliffs all the way around, past the Undercity, to the bulwark. Now travel up north to Scarlet monastery, hugging the cliffs as you go. Travel west when you are at the coast, then move south to follow the cliffs down to Agamand Mills. After that follow the hills south again back to the entrance of Deathknell. You should get about 30-40 copper ore from this run.

Alliance

-Night elves:

Since Darnassus has no ores at all, you must go to Darkshore. Start at Auberdine and then travel east util you reach the cliffs at the top of the map. As you are moving southwards, hug the cliff face as you move. Upon arriving at the entrance of Ashenvale, travel west to the coast and then north back to Auberdine. Now move east, like before, except this time when you arrive at the cliffs, head northwards, following the cliffs round the coast and then head south again to Auberdine. This is a figure 8 pattern and you will find it easier than taking Auberdine in one whole route. You will get around 40-50 copper ores from this.

-Dwarves and Gnomes:

Copper is everywhere, so you really don't need a route here.

-Human:

 Starting at Goldshire and traveling east to the north of Crystal Lake, when you arrive at the north of the logging camp, travel south. Follow the river to the border of Duskwood and Elwyn forest, then go north-west and return to Goldshire. If you visit at least 2 mines on this voyage, you will get about 30-40 copper ores.
